well, can be, i was in a time where i haven't free time or hang out with friend for doing cp (it was two month), i was training for a icpc. Since i starting programing a year ago and start serious cp like 5 months, i dont know if i making a good progress or wasting my time... i trained in different platforms like codeforce, vjude, uva, cses, geekforgeeks, leetcode, hackerank and some other. I was mainly practice dp, and i don't if it was worth, i can do some basics and no-clasic dp, but i keep struggle in the part of implementations or figure out solution dp out of n^3...
I feel i haven't talent at all, but with effor i can be near to pupil. A factor is the method of practice, because i know my past method was very bad (trying different problems 2000+ like for a week, and keep unsolved a lot :/)
At this moment, i'm relaxed and do some easy problems (1000-1400 for up my rank for motivations, and some 1600 but keep struggle). I wanted to improve fast, but sometimes one should take the things with time and trying learn new things, tecniques, ideas, making proyects and not only focus in the problems solving :)
